State of the Nation

The current political situation and the inability of the Government to check serious malpractices indulged in by Ministers at the Center and at the State level have reached a pinnacle of frustration for the common man . The Commonwealth Games , the Telecom Ministry , The Adarsh Housing Scandal , the lust and greed of State Governments to remain in Power indulging in horse trading only reflect upon the state of the Nation and the " NETAS "" governing us . No doubt these Netas have been elected by us through a tried democratic process . But the Question is
1 Have they delivered the results the the Nation is expecting of them ?

2 Do they deserve the confidence of we the people ?

3 Are the guilty politicians beyond the reach of the law ?

4 Is the governing system at fault ?

5 Is the electorate guilty ?

A serious thought is to be given to reverse the situation . Our Parliament has become non functional . There is a serious issue of erosion of faith in the heart of the common man and our guardians who stand as sentinels to guard us and lead us are taking us step by step to a point of frustration...... WHAT IS THE REMEDY ?????

  1. Must thank M/S . Amith Raje and Gopalkrishna Bhat for their valuable inputs :Some positive suggestions are coming through :
    1. Empower the youth to turn the tide .
    2. Reform the judicial system for swift action against corrupt practices .
    3. Enforce strict guidelines to select candidates.
    4. If possible study and consider a new module of governance ( e.g. SINGAPORE model ) .

As far as regional parties are concerned I do not foresee any immediate change in the political scene .In fact the regional parities are challenging the center and it has become inevitable for the Center to exist with the regional parties .This leaves a yawning gap in the functioning and management of democracy and parliament vis-a-vis a single party majority government . This is a weakness that has been exploited by unscruplus and selfish individuals in the system. The net result is that malfunctioning , malpractices and accountability of Ministers are not questioned and the emergence of scams and misappropriations along with connivance of " Babus " in power become the order of the day .The Nation is held to ransom and the very moral fabric of society is at stake .
The electorate has right to step in and suggest a module for governance on the right path .How does THE NATION go about this job without having another referendum ?????
